Carotid ultrasound is an imaging test to check the arteries in your neck for blockages. These arteries provide blood to your brain. Blockages could lead to a stroke.

What You Need to Know

• The test takes about 30 minutes.
• Ultrasound is painless.
• Don't wear a shirt with a high collar. The ultrasound technician will need access to your neck, from your collarbone to your jaw line.
