What Are Heart Rhythm Conditions?
Heart rhythm conditions, also called arrhythmias, occur when the heart beats too fast, too slow, or with an irregular pattern. While some heart arrhythmias are benign and require no treatment, others can be life-threatening.
Arrhythmias can be caused by a variety of factors, including electrolyte imbalances, heart attacks, inherited conditions, and certain medications.
Some arrhythmias cause no symptoms. Others may cause palpitations, chest pain, shortness of breath, or lightheadedness. In severe cases, arrhythmias can lead to cardiac arrest. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important to see a doctor as soon as possible. At Baptist Health, we specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of heart arrhythmias. No matter what type of arrhythmia you are experiencing, we will work with you to develop a treatment plan that is right for you.
