Diseases of the Aorta
What Are Aortic Diseases?
Diseases of the Aorta are disorders that affect the major artery that connects the heart to the rest of the body, the Aorta.
The Aortic diseases vary in their symptoms and severity. Some may only cause mild symptoms, while others present with severe symptoms such as chest pain or shortness of breath. The symptoms may occur gradually or suddenly.
Aortic disease may be life threatening. Aortic disease can be caused by several different factors including genetics, high blood pressure, and atherosclerosis, otherwise known as hardening of the arteries.
Treatment depends on the specific condition, but may include medication, surgery, or lifestyle changes.
