Medical Weight Loss and Management

Losing a significant amount of weight is a personal journey, and it can feel challenging to navigate alone. That’s why Baptist Health’s medical weight loss and management clinics are here to provide the support and guidance you need.

If traditional diets and exercise plans haven’t worked for you, it’s important to know you still have options. At Baptist Health, we’re not only here to cheer you on every step of the way, but we also offer the expertise and tools to help you reach your health goals.

Our medically supervised weight loss program is carefully designed to provide a supportive, nonsurgical approach that empowers you to achieve lasting, positive changes for your overall health.

What Is Medical Weight Loss?

Medical weight loss is a nonsurgical treatment program guided by a member of our clinical team, such as a physician or nurse practitioner. If medical weight loss is right for you, here’s what you can expect—though specific steps may vary by location.

  1. Evaluation: We perform a comprehensive exam to learn more about your current health and weight loss goals.
  2. Personalized plan: We work with you to create a personalized nutrition and/or exercise plan.
  3. Follow up visits: You come back to meet with us regularly. This may be weekly or monthly. During these visits, we measure your progress and help you set new goals. We also give you encouragement and recommendations to help keep the disease of obesity on track.
  4. Medication: If you are not seeing results, we may prescribe medications to help curb your appetite.
  5. Education and support: During every office visit, we give you tips and information to help you stay motivated and take control of your weight loss journey. You may learn about new foods, portion control and goal setting. If you ever have questions or need support, we are always happy to help.
