JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (Aug. 12, 2022) — Baptist Health held a ribbon cutting ceremony Aug. 12 to celebrate the opening of the area’s first hybrid emergency room and urgent care facility.

Baptist Health ER & Urgent Care, located at 3516 E. 10th St., Jeffersonville, will officially open to the public at 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15.

“Our new free-standing emergency department is representative of the next generation services Baptist continues to bring to its patients and communities. It is truly patient-centric in that it is focused on providing the right level of care based on the need of the patient, with a first class patient experience ever time,” said Jody Prather, MD, chief strategy and marketing officer for Baptist Health.

Baptist Health ER & Urgent Care’s unique hybrid ER and urgent care model — created from a partnership between Baptist Health Kentucky and Dallas-based Intuitive Health — offers both emergent and non-emergent services under one roof. Patients are able to receive appropriate medical care without having to self-diagnose or choose between visiting an emergency department or urgent care center. An ER-trained physician will always be on site to help patients determine the level of care needed, and with the center's affordable, transparent pricing model, they will only pay for the level of care received. The facility makes an excellent choice for patients who want exceptional customer service and value-based care.

“We are very pleased to open this wonderful facility in Jeffersonville to provide patient centered care to this community and all of southern Indiana. This facility will be open 24 hours a day to provide emergency and urgent care to those in need,” said Baptist Health Floyd President Mike Schroyer. “This new patient centered model of care will provide quick assessment of the patient to determine the patient’s needs, whether it be emergency or urgent care, and the patient will be charged accordingly. The patients will also have access to higher level needs provided by Baptist Health Floyd or Baptist Health Louisville if needed. We are very proud of our partnership with Intuitive Health in order to bring this wonderful new patient centered facility to Jeffersonville and southern Indiana. I am also proud of our team at Baptist Health and from Intuitive who have worked collaboratively on this wonderful project.”

The combination of an ER and urgent care gives patients access to in-network providers with most major insurance plans, including Medicare and treats the entire family from pediatrics to adults. Additionally, there is an on-site X-ray capabilities, multi-slice CT scanners, a radiology suite, ultrasounds, labs, little to no wait time and quality treatment for conditions ranging from allergies to stitches, broken bones, stroke symptoms and much more.

"We are proud to partner with Baptist Health Kentucky to bring our dual ER and urgent care model to residents in Indiana. We believe patients should always come first, and we strive to provide an exceptional level of customer service at every point in their journey, whether they are coming to us for emergency or urgent care services," said Thom Herrmann, CEO of Intuitive Health, the leading provider of the dual ER and urgent care model."

Opening Aug. 15, the new center will officially welcome and provide emergency services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; urgent care will be available from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
