Leadership at Baptist Health Richmond
Greg Gerard is president of Baptist Health Richmond, a 105- bed hospital in Richmond that is part of Baptist Health, a Louisville-based healthcare system with more than 21,000 employees in its facilities across Kentucky and southern Indiana. He served as interim president of the hospital from January to July 2018 and as vice president since 2015.
An experienced leader in the healthcare industry, Gerard began his career with Baptist Health in 2015 as vice president of Ambulatory Services. In that capacity, he was responsible for ambulatory surgery, cardiac catheterization services, regulatory affairs, major construction projects, growth and strategic planning. He also worked in collaboration with Baptist Health executives in the East region to continue the expansion of ambulatory services for the Richmond market.
Before joining Baptist Health, Gerard worked with KentuckyOne Health for seven years, as president of Saint Joseph Berea and then Saint Joseph London. Prior to that, he was CEO of Powers Medical Center in Lamar, Colorado, where he led a major facility expansion project and executed a growth strategy to support new services and additional physicians. He also served as CEO of Select Specialty Hospital, where he led the opening of Select Medical Corporation’s first long-term, acute care hospital in Alabama.
Gerard earned a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Auburn University and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Western Kentucky University. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy.
