Volunteer Opportunities at Baptist Health Louisville

Active Volunteer Log-In

Baptist Health Louisville has over 400 Volunteers who contribute almost 40,000 hours to the hospital each year. We are very fortunate to have such a large group of diverse Volunteers, who give their time to our hospital and other Baptist Health Louisville facilities in our community.

Adult Program

The Adult Volunteer Program is geared towards individuals who want to give back through long-term acts of service. In addition to the traditional volunteer areas, such as staffing the information desks or delivering flowers, Volunteers operate the hospital Gift Shop, help in nursing or surgery units, and participate in programs to impact patients like rounding for safety or satisfaction. These volunteers take on responsibilities designed special for them assisting in various areas to supplement duties.

Another benefit of joining the Adult Volunteer Program is the opportunity to be involved with our Baptist Health Auxiliary. The Auxiliary includes all the volunteers but focuses efforts to support the Gift Shop and hosts fundraisers for the hospital. Proceeds are donated to purchase new medical equipment, help meet patients' emergency needs, and support projects such as the making of pillows for recovering surgery patients. The Baptist Health Auxiliary fulfilled several million-dollar pledges to the Baptist Health Foundation for major projects that benefit the hospital.

Becoming an Adult Volunteer

To apply, complete this application. Once the application is reviewed, candidates will be contacted to discuss interest, detail volunteer positions and provide onboarding information. All applicants must complete requirements prior to volunteering: TB blood draw and risk assessment, criminal records consent, confidentiality form, Volunteer handbook acknowledgement, health screening form, training with confirmation and multiple-choice quiz. If openings are available in an area of interest, a placement meeting will be scheduled with the Volunteer Director. During this time, if applicants are a good fit for an open position, a schedule will be established and badge requested. Volunteers can expect to be oriented to their assignment on the first day. Our Volunteers take pride in their work and are committed to be valuable members of the Baptist Health Louisville family.

Student Volunteer Programs

Baptist Health Louisville offers Student Volunteer programs for high school and college students in the Fall, Spring and Summer. Our program has proven to be an excellent opportunity for students who are considering a career in health care. Student Volunteers contribute many volunteer hours by helping in nursing units, clinical and service areas, our onsite daycare and many other departments of the hospital. The program provides students with healthcare experience, as well as a good reference for jobs or resumes.

Each seasonal session has a specific starting date and generally lasts for 7 to 8 weeks. Applications are available online and upon submission, applicants will receive an email indicating which session they will be eligible to participate in. When preparing for the program, students will be contacted to discuss applications, provide onboarding information and set up interviews. Students must commit to volunteering for at least six weeks of the session. We have one of the largest programs in the state, so depending on the number of positions available, student acceptance may be limited into each program.

During the interview, students are asked about their volunteer interests, a schedule is established and dates provided for hospital orientation. Students should bring signed onboarding paperwork and health documentation to the interview: proof of TB test, TB risk assessment, criminal records consent (18+), confidentiality form, health screening form, up-to-date vaccination records, Student Volunteer handbook acknowledgement, training with confirmation and completed online multiple-choice quiz.

Junior Students - Junior students must be 14 or older and in high school or a recent graduate. We encourage participation in multiple sessions of the student program for the best experience! To apply, complete the application: https://www.volgistics.com/appform/1024960769.

College Students - College students must be 18+, graduated from high school and enrolled in college, professional school or recent graduate pursuing healthcare. To apply, complete the application: https://www.volgistics.com/appform/2044944062.
