Volunteer Opportunities at Baptist Health Louisville
Adult Program
Baptist Health Louisville has over 275 Volunteers who contribute more than 30,000 hours to the hospital each year. We are very fortunate to have such a large group of Volunteers, who give their time to our hospital and other areas in our community. Most volunteer in an assigned area 4 hours per week, sometimes more. In addition to the traditional volunteer areas, such as staffing the information desks or delivering flowers, Volunteers operate the hospital Gift Shop, help in nursing and surgery units and participate in programs to assist patients during their stay such as our patient rounding and bed safety checks.
Another benefit of volunteering is the option to join our Baptist Health Auxiliary. Auxiliary members hold various events to raise money for the hospital. Those funds along with proceeds from the hospital's Gift Shop are donated back to the hospital. Funds are used to purchase new medical equipment, help meet patients' emergency needs, and support projects such as the making of pillows for recovering surgery patients. The Baptist Health Auxiliary has almost completed their 3rd million dollar pledge to the Baptist Health Foundation for projects that benefit the hospital.

Baptist Health Louisville offers a Junior Student Volunteer program for teens ages 14 through 18 in the Fall, Spring and Summer. Our program has proven to be an excellent opportunity for students, who are considering a career in health care. The Junior Student Volunteers contribute many volunteer hours by helping out in nursing units, clinical and service areas, our onsite daycare and many other areas of the hospital. The program provides students with the experience of working in a hospital, as well as a good reference for their first jobs.
Each session has a specific starting date and generally lasts for 7 to 8 weeks. Applications are available online and you can Click here to complete an application. Upon submission of an application, you will receive an email indicating which session you will be eligible to participate in. We have one of the largest programs in the state, so depending on the number of positions available, we must limit the number of students accepted into each program.
