Hardin Pharmacy Residencies

Baptist Health Hardin’s Post Graduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy education. The PGY1 residency program is designed to enable the resident to provide progressive pharmacy services in a regional community hospital setting. We strive to contribute to the development of a clinical staff pharmacist responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and PGY2 pharmacy residency training.

The Baptist Health Hardin PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is currently in pre-candidate status and seeking two self-motivated resident candidates with the desire to help build the program. The first resident class will start in June 2022. The program is affiliated with the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. 

Baptist Health Hardin (BHH) is part of a 9-hospital system. BHH serves a population of approximately 400,000 residents in 10 central Kentucky counties. Located in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, our 300-bed hospital includes 250 acute care, 20 critical care, 15 psychiatric, and 15 skilled nursing beds. Additionally, BHH includes 54 emergency room beds, and 50+ outpatient facilities across the service area including a Cancer Care Center, Outpatient Surgical Center, and two Outpatient Community Pharmacies. Inpatient services offered by Baptist Health Hardin include but are not limited to Emergency and Urgent Care, Cardiac, Neurosurgery, Pulmonology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Urology, Vascular Services, Medical and Surgical Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Obstetrics including a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Pediatrics. The inpatient pharmacy utilizes central distribution with decentralized clinical services on first shift. Pharmacists are cross trained to provide distribution and clinical services. ER pharmacy coverage is provided 365 days per year during peak hours. Baptist Health Hardin hosts learning experiences for students from multiple colleges of pharmacy.
