Penile Prosthesis

Penile prosthesis is a treatment available for men with erectile dysfunction. Penile prosthesis is usually used when there is a medical cause of erectile dysfunction and the problem seems unlikely to resolve naturally without use of these instruments.

Prosthesis Options

The treatment involves surgically implanting a device into the erection chambers of the penis. With this type of implant insertion, the penis merely needs to be lifted or adjusted to initiate sex. There is also a hydraulic, inflatable prosthesis pump option, which allows a man to have an erection whenever he chooses. This option is much easier to conceal, much more natural, and much more common today.

Prognosis

Penile prosthesis does not change the sensation of the penis skin or a man’s ability to reach orgasm, nor is ejaculation affected. However, most men usually cannot get an erection without inflating the penile implant. Most men experience a normal sex life after getting a penile prosthesis.
