Non-Invasive Uterine Fibroids Treatment in Lexington, KY

♪ [music] ♪

Uterine fibroids are benign tumors of soft tissue and
smooth muscle that arise in the muscular layer of the

wall of the uterus, which is the womb,
and they are very common in the females

of childbearing age.

There are a bunch of symptoms
that can happen with fibroids.

If, for example, a woman has heavy periods or prolonged
periods, spotting in between the periods,

if there is pelvic pain and pressure,
the need to go to the bathroom, often constipation,

pain with intercourse, subfertility, miscarriages,
these are all some of the symptoms of fibroids.

For a female in the right setting,
fibroid embolization is the treatment of choice.

This treatment is done as an outpatient.

Using minimally invasive techniques,
I will embolize those arteries with very tiny

micron-sized plastic spheres so it cuts off the blood
supply to the fibroids.

Fibroids are hungry tumors,
and when you cut off the blood supply, they starve,

and they shrink, and they die.

So within the next few weeks, like the next period,
the symptoms, in general, have resolved.

Doing this procedure does not
lead to terminal sterilization.

So there is still, you know, a chance.

It would be a high-risk pregnancy,
but the females have gone on to become pregnant and

bear children after this procedure.
