Better Breathers Club offers benefits to those with chronic lung conditions
ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (Sept. 5, 2024) – Baptist Health Hardin has announced the start of the Better Breathers Club, which will meet monthly beginning Sept. 19. The group will meet the third Thursday of each month at 3 p.m. ET. All meetings through Nov. 2024 will be held in Auditorium 5A at the hospital.
The American Lung Association’s Better Breathers Club program helps connect people living with chronic lung conditions with education, resources, and support.
The featured speaker for September's meeting is Elizabeth McNeil from Karma Yoga. McNeil will speak about the health benefits of yoga for people with lung disease.
Other discussion topics for future meetings may include breathing techniques, exercise and healthy eating, being your own health advocate, medications and other treatment options, medical tests and procedures, and supplemental oxygen.
Attendance is encouraged for anyone living with a chronic lung condition such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung disease or lung cancer.
“Living with a lung condition requires managing that condition,” said Jennifer Blair, respiratory case manager for Baptist Health Hardin. “Better Breathers Club can help those living with lung conditions achieve an improved quality of life by giving them the tools they need to stay active and healthy. The group is intended to help provide additional knowledge, support, resources, and a sense of community from knowing they are not going through this alone.”
Programs will last approximately 60 minutes.
Participation is free and registration is not required but is helpful for planning. For questions or to RSVP, call Jennifer Blair at 270.706.6945 or Tiffany Gillingham at 270.706.5841.
