Baptist Health Paducah hosts Blood Drive to help save lives

Baptist Health Paducah hosts Blood Drive to help save lives. March 25, 2025

(PADUCAH, KY) March 26, 2025 – Saving lives is a legendary act, and Baptist Health Paducah is calling on local legends to rise to the occasion by donating blood at an upcoming blood drive in collaboration with the Kentucky Blood Center (KBC). Blood donations are essential for patients in more than 70 Kentucky hospitals, as blood cannot be manufactured—its only source is the generosity of donors.

One in four people will require a transfusion in their lifetime, and one in seven hospital patients will need blood as part of their treatment. These donations help those battling cancer, undergoing surgery, or experiencing traumatic injuries, making every donor a true lifesaver.

The blood drive will take place over two days in Barnes Auditorium, located on the 2nd floor of the Carson-Myre Heart Center at Baptist Health Paducah:

  • Wednesday, April 2, from 3–5:30 p.m. CST
  • Thursday, April 3, from 7 a.m.–4 p.m. CST

As a thank-you, all donors will receive a limited-edition “Legend Dairy” T-shirt (while supplies last).

"Blood donation is a simple act with a profound impact," said Debbie Taffer, vice president of Laboratory Services at Baptist Health. "By giving just a small amount of time, donors are directly helping patients in need and ensuring a stable blood supply for our region."

To donate, individuals must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health, and present a photo I.D. at the time of donation. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.

To schedule a donation, visit kybloodcenter.org or call 800.775.2522.
