Better Breathers Club focuses on cancer education, tobacco cessation in November
ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (Nov. 13, 2024) – November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Learning about cancer and quitting tobacco will be key elements of Baptist Health Hardin’s 100 Days of Service event for November.
Cancer education and tobacco cessation will be the focus for the November meeting of Baptist Health Hardin’s monthly Better Breather’s Club. The meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. in the hospital’s auditorium (room 5A).
“Smoking, smokeless tobacco and vaping all pose significant health risks including cancer, heart disease and chronic respiratory conditions,” said Jennifer Blair, respiratory case manager for Baptist Health Hardin. “Quitting tobacco and vaping can help reduce many health risks and improve quality of life. If you or a loved one is ready to quit, we encourage you to attend this meeting to learn more and get valuable resources to help you in your efforts."
November 21 is a significant date, as it is also the American Cancer Society’s annual Great American Smokeout, an observance which raises awareness about the risks of smoking, encourages smoking cessation and supporting others who are trying to quit. The hope is that giving up one day of smoking can be a single step forward in the journey toward a tobacco-free life.
The American Lung Association’s Better Breathers Club program helps connect people living with chronic lung conditions with education, resources, and support.
The meeting will last approximately 60 minutes.
Participation is free and registration is not required. For questions, call Jennifer Blair at 270.706.6945 or Tiffany Gillingham at 270.706.5841.
Attendees should park in the parking garage and enter the hospital's main lobby through Entrance A. From the lobby, take Elevator A to the fifth floor and look for signs to the auditorium.
