NEW ALBANY, INDIANA (Oct. 22, 2019) -- A hospital administrator with 34 years of experience in Indiana healthcare has been appointed interim president at Baptist Health Floyd. He will replace Daniel Eichenberger, MD, who departs at the end of the month, changing careers to become a healthcare consultant.
Matt Bailey, 59, will begin work Oct. 28. The Vincennes, Indiana area resident will serve until a permanent successor is named. A search is underway, according to Patrick Falvey, Baptist Health’s chief operating officer.
“We are grateful that he and Dr. Eichenberger will spend time together during the transition to ensure a smooth hand-off of responsibilities,” Falvey said.
Bailey was previously president of Indiana University Health South Central Region in Bloomington, Indiana. At IU Health, he led five IU Health entities within the South Central region, including oversight of performance excellence for patient safety, clinical excellence, financial stewardship and workforce engagement.
During his tenure, approval was granted and ground broken in January 2018 on a $384 million regional academic health center.
Bailey is the former president and chief executive officer at IU Health West Hospital in Avon, Indiana. Prior to that, he rose to president and chief executive officer at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana after beginning his healthcare career there as an internal auditor.
