Baptist Health Wound Care honored as Center of the Year
Only eight centers out of more than 600 nationwide received this award for exemplifying quality patient care and clinical outcomes.
(Paducah, Ky.) Nov. 5, 2020 — Baptist Health Wound Care at Baptist Health Paducah has received the distinguished Center of the Year award from Healogics®.
Only eight centers out of more than 600 nationwide received this award for exemplifying quality patient care and clinical outcomes.
In order to qualify for Center of the Year, Baptist Health Wound Care met stringent quality measures, including high healing outcomes, low days to heal and excellent patient satisfaction rates, in addition to other operational metrics.
Baptist Health Wound Care in Paducah previously received the President’s Circle Center of Distinction. Healogics delayed announcing Center of the Year to be sensitive to the impacts experienced by field employees due to COVID-19. The company assessed the situation and its effects on centers each month to determine the best time for the announcement.
Baptist Health Paducah President Chris Roty is extremely pleased with the wound service line and this recent award. “We are excited to be a Center of the Year because this confirms what we’ve known about the high level of care our patients receive,” he said.
Baptist Health Wound Care is a member of the Healogics network of more than 600 wound care centers across the country with access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. Baptist Health Wound Care offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other wounds, which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. The center also treats more acute wounds, such as burns, lacerations and bites. The center offers a variety of treatment options, including negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.
Baptist Health Wound Care patients may be supervised in hyperbaric oxygen therapy by Griffin Bicking, DO, or treated by Jason Cumbers, MD, Melissa Wilson, APRN, or Chad Bassi, DPM. These providers recognize the significance of the Center of the Year award.
“Each of the providers and highly skilled staff members in the Wound Care Center work with a patient-first mindset,” Dr. Bassi said. “This leads to the excellent outcomes required to be Center of the Year.”
Baptist Health Wound Care works closely with physicians and practitioners to help ensure adherence to its patients’ plans of care.
