Baptist Health Floyd
Tawana Coates, MD:
You should have a baby at Baptist Health Floyd because we're going to make you a priority. When I say we, I am talking about the staff — the nursing staff, the anesthesia staff, our NICU staff — and especially our physicians. You are going to be heard and you're going to be listened to.
We are here to make sure you have a delivery experience that you deserve, one that you can remember, and one where you feel safe. Having a dedicated floor specifically for women's healthcare with all the resources in one area is how labor and delivery should be run. We have to have the resources that we need at our fingertips.
As an obstetrician, if there is an emergency, which can happen in a second, we have to have all the things in one place, whether that is a delivery room, a delivery bed, or an operating room that is two steps away from me. We have all of that, as well as our NICU. It is a centered zone providing women's healthcare for all women in one place so that you're not going off this floor.
A lot of the new mothers I get to see in my office after they've had a baby here are raving about how well they were taken care of. Our goal as providers is that a woman leaves here with the type of birth experience they planned for.
