We now have a pediatric unit at Baptist [Health] Floyd, and that's important as we can provide great pediatric care close to home so people don't have to travel far for their kids’ needs.
Krista Robbins, MD:
It can be very scary when your kid's sick. [It’s] not only, “Okay, I don't want to take them across the bridge,” because that is important. It goes a little bit further than that in that you want to take them to a place where they can be taken care of and you feel comfortable and they feel comfortable. Also, just know that we care about them as much as parents do and that we want to make sure that this scary time is not as scary. We do everything we can to get everybody back to normal.
Ryan Mughmaw, MD:
In southern Indiana, access to pediatrics is limited. There is a desert of pediatric care in this area. Opening this unit allows those who need more than office care to come and get the help they need.
Krista Robbins, MD:
I feel very honored that I am able to fill this gap and treat patients and families here at Floyd. It's very rewarding.

We are excited that we're having a dedicated pediatric unit at Baptist Health Floyd, as we can provide care to those who need it most — kids — and improve healthcare in the community itself.
