- [Mike] When I was younger in my teens,
I started developing anxiety and depression and went

to actually the point where I was actually suicidal.

It probably stayed with me about a good 15 years.

- [Dr. Martin] There can be a lot of signs that people
are considering suicide or having suicidal thoughts,

if they're feeling hopeless,
if they're feeling helpless,

if they're isolating from you.

There can be a lot of different treatments that you can
get for depression or a suicidal ideation.

Medication management is one of those,
and the classic would be antidepressants.

That's the first step.

And then you can also pursue non-pharmacologic options,
which should be therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy,

or different other therapy modalities.

But here at Baptist Corbin
we are privileged to be in a position where we can help

patients who are suffering with these issues.

We have a lot of good staff here at Baptist who are
trained and passionate about this and we have a great

mental health facility here so that we can provide that
care in a lot of different capacities.

It's rewarding, and help is out there,
and we're here to give it.

- Crisis hotline is there for anyone.

If you want to reach out and you don't have anybody
that you can talk to or you think you don't have

anybody you can talk to,
you actually can call these people and they

will listen, and they will hear you.

They will hear your voice.

The key part of that is listen,
and sometimes that's all it takes
