[PADUCAH, KY] Dec. 20, 2024 – Baptist Health Paducah has been honored as a recipient of the 2024 Lighthouse Awards & Grants Program, presented by American Excess Insurance. This prestigious program recognizes healthcare organizations that exemplify excellence and innovation in advancing patient safety, improving clinical quality, and reducing risk.

Baptist Health Paducah was recognized for its project, Staying Alive: Utilizing Technology to Improve Resuscitation Quality, which involved launching a multifaceted initiative to improve CPR quality throughout the hospital. This initiative fostered teamwork, proficiency, and ownership of CPR skills among staff, ultimately supporting the goal of improving patient survival and discharging more patients home to their families.

This recognition highlights our commitment to driving meaningful improvements in healthcare and creating safer environments for our patients and providers,” said Amy Osbron, Chrest Pain-STEMI Coordinator, Baptist Health Paducah. “We are honored to receive this award and to share our work with others in the healthcare community.”

By prioritizing consistent education, simulations, and intentional practice, the program underscores the importance of organized, effective resuscitation efforts in saving lives. Over a three-year period, survival of all CPR events improved from 60% to 80%. Survival to discharge rates improved from 21% to 40%.

Over the past 20 years, the Lighthouse Awards & Grants Program has recognized and supported nearly 100 projects that embody the spirit of Excellence through Innovation. Projects selected for this distinction promote patient safety or reduce liability while demonstrating the potential to be shared and implemented by others nationwide.
