Angelia Foster named Baptist Health Corbin president

CORBIN, KENTUCKY (Aug. 1, 2024) – Angelia Foster has been named president of Baptist Health Corbin, effective Oct. 14.

She replaces interim head Matt Bailey, who will be staying on until Nov. 1 to help provide a seamless transition.

For the last four years, Foster has been president of Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam, located in the county seat of Dodge County, Wisconsin. The medical center is a not-for-profit facility including a 48-bed acute care hospital, 100-bed skilled nursing facility, ambulatory care, regional clinics, long-term care, assisted living, home care and hospice, sleep center, wound care, retail pharmacy and independent senior living. She also serves as regional president for the southern region of Wisconsin.

“Angelia Foster has a deep appreciation for the challenges facing rural hospitals, such as Baptist Health Corbin, and the communities it serves,” said Patrick Falvey, Baptist Health chief operating officer. “She has 15 years of healthcare leadership experience, including successfully steering her team through the initial COVID-19 shutdown within her first 10 days on the job at Marshfield.”

In the fall of 2020, Dodge County spent nine weeks on the New York Times Top 10 list for positive COVID cases. Foster was thrust into the spotlight, interviewed by local, regional and national media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal. To keep the community informed, she conducted a weekly radio broadcast.

“I look forward to meeting the staff, providers and volunteers at Baptist Health Corbin, and learning about the healthcare needs of the community,” Foster said. “It’s important to continue providing high quality medical services, and keeping an eye on opportunities for innovation and greater access.”

Foster was instrumental in recruiting more than 30 new providers to Marshfield spanning 10 new specialties from cardiology and spine, to family practice and psychiatry over a three-year period. She also is an advocate for patient-centered care, striving to provide exceptional patient experiences “for every patient, every time.”

The 273-bed Corbin hospital was recently recognized by in the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings with a designation of “high performing” in treating kidney failure and pneumonia.

She previously served as executive vice president/chief administrative officer at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, Ohio. Foster began her healthcare career at Memorial Health System in Springfield, Illinois, where she served as the affiliate vice president of Human Resources and Support Services.

Before embarking on a healthcare career, Foster worked for more than two decades as an organizational development consultant for a variety of human resources and healthcare firms.

Foster received her master’s degree in management and organizational behavior from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois and a bachelor’s degree in political science and communications from Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio.

 

She and her husband, David, have five children and three grandchildren.
