As part of the Floyd Memorial Foundation’s Healthier Community Initiative, Baptist Health Floyd is offering another 7-week smoking cessation class series that is free to the public. The Freedom from Smoking series is held on Tuesdays from 5-6 p.m., begins Jan. 14 and runs through Feb. 25. Classes are held in Baptist Health Floyd’s Paris Health Education Center.
The program consists of eight sessions in seven weeks. Participants will review over-the-counter nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and other prescription NRT, track triggers and keep scorecards for rewards. For best results, all classes in the series should be attended.
Overseen by a certified facilitator, participants will learn:
• How to know if you’re really ready to quit
• Medications that can increase your success
• Lifestyle changes to make quitting easier
• How to prepare for your quit day
• Coping strategies for managing stress & avoiding weight gain
• How to stay smokefree for good
