Healthgrades, a leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals, recently awarded Hardin Memorial Health (HMH) a Patient Safety Excellence Award. The award recognizes hospitals that have the lowest occurrence of 13 preventable patient safety events. HMH is one of only nine Kentucky hospitals to receive the distinction and the only one in the Greater Louisville Region.
Hospitals receiving the award are in the top 10 percent in the nation for patient safety, according to Healthgrades.
HMH Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer Sharon Wright said the recognition resulted from a total team effort.
“Patient care and patient safety go hand in hand and are our highest priorities,” said Wright. “Team members from all HMH departments pay attention to the smallest details and are committed to following the patient safety evidence-based protocols we have in place.”
The Healthgrades recognition comes on the heels of two back-to-back ‘A’ safety ratings from the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that evaluates the safety and quality performance of more than 2,600 hospitals nationwide.
“We use all of these reports and rankings as an opportunity to learn so we can provide the best and safest care for our patients,” Wright said. “The HMH team is truly committed to patient safety.”
