Five Baptist Health Home Care agencies are among the 2,223 top-performing home care agencies in the nation named to the 2018 HomeCare Elite® list.

LOUISVILLE, KY. (Nov. 4, 2018) – Five Baptist Health Home Care agencies are among the 2,223 top-performing home care agencies in the nation named to the 2018 HomeCare Elite® list.

Honored were Baptist Health Home Care locations in the Kentucky cities of Louisville, Hardinsburg, Paducah and Madisonville plus New Albany, Ind. The Southern Indiana agency, which operates from Baptist Health Floyd, was also a repeat honoree as a Top 500 agency.

Some 8,898 home care agencies were considered for the program administered by the ABILITY Network in partnership with Decision Health. HomeCare Elite uses public data to perform a comprehensive analysis of all home health care agencies and evaluate their overall performance. The program uses proprietary methods to identify the top 25 percent of all Medicare-certified home health care agencies, as well as the nation’s top 100 and top 500 agencies.

“It is quite an honor for our agencies to be singled out,” said Rebecca Cartright, executive director of Baptist Health Home Care, Hospice and Infusion. “This honor underscores what our patients already know -- that high quality home care can be found right in your hometown.”

“These home health providers represent the ‘best of the best’ in the industry,” said Bud Meadows, chief revenue officer for ABILITY. “We applaud their efforts in delivering the highest quality of care to their patients.”

HomeCare Elite agencies are determined by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, best practices implementation, patient experience (HHCAHPS), quality improvement and consistency, and financial health. To be considered, an agency must be Medicare-certified and have data for at least three outcome measures in Home Health Compare – a program created by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide the public with information about the quality of care provided by Medicare-certified home health agencies.

During November – national Home Care & Hospice Month – Baptist Health honors its experienced staff of nurses, therapists, social workers and home care aides who provide the care you need in the comfort of your home.

“Research has shown that recovery can be faster at home, particularly if there is a good quality skilled home health care available to the patient,” said Cartright. “In some cases, home care can be substituted for other forms of inpatient care, such as hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities.”

Home healthcare may be covered by Medicare or Medicaid if the patient meets the qualifications for these programs. Private insurance, private pay, and worker’s compensation are other sources of coverage for home healthcare services.
